This is a vibrant, original folk art painting by the artist Alaby, depicting a bustling daily scene in Tortola, British Virgin Islands (BVI). The piece captures the "Naïve" style of the region with a flattened perspective, vivid blue-roofed huts, and numerous figures amongst palm trees and tropical flora.

Notably, this work is executed on a military camouflage patterned canvas, which is visible on the reverse and along the stapled edges. This unique choice of substrate adds an interesting textural and historical layer to the piece, contrasting the colorful island scene with the rugged utility of the underlying material.

Canvas: The camouflage canvas is securely gallery-wrapped and stapled to the wooden stretcher. The military pattern is clearly visible on the back and edges (see photos).

Edges: Minor wear at the corners where the canvas is folded, consistent with age and previous display.

Authentication: Signed "ALABY" in bold black paint on the lower right-hand edge. The reverse includes a 2009 date and location label.

Hardware: Equipped with a professional hanging wire and D-rings; ready to hang.
