Ray Dolby established Dolby Laboratories in London in 1965. The company initially focused on audio noise reduction systems for professional recording studios. The introduction of the Dolby A system helped eliminate the background hiss inherent in magnetic tape recording, improving the fidelity of studio masters. The technology was later adapted for the consumer market as Dolby B, establishing a new practical standard for home audio playback.

The visual identity of the brand is centred around the distinct Double-D emblem. The two facing letters represent the dual processes of encoding and decoding the audio signal. During the height of the cassette tape era, this logo became a standard fixture on the front panels of home stereo decks, portable players, and pre-recorded media. It served as a rapid visual indicator of a system's noise reduction capabilities.

Beyond the domestic market, the company expanded into cinema sound, introducing formats like Dolby Stereo and later digital surround sound. The emblem remains a recognised mark of practical audio engineering. This piece captures the solid geometry of the classic logo, offering a physical reference for enthusiasts of analogue recording and home hi-fi history.

Approx 6" wide with a unique textured surface, this 3D printed model is made from high-quality, recyclable PLA, both lightweight and durable, making it an ideal display piece.
