DESCRIPTION: 

Vintage etching by listed Philadelphia, PA artist Christian Lawton Dull (1902-1982). The etching depicts a woman standing on a bluff overlooking the shoreline under some trees as the trees and the bottom of her dress blow to the left from the strong wind.

The paper measures about 10" x 13". The image (plate mark) measures approximately 8" x 10". It is signed 'Christian L Dull' in pencil in the lower right margin. Free Domestic Shipping!

Condition: The etching is unframed. There is a water stain and resultant gentle puckering to the paper on the left side of the paper. It is visible in the image area in the lower left corner, but I don't think it would be as noticeable when the print is matted (I placed a mat I had over the print in the last picture just to give you an idea - this mat doesn't really fit and is not included). It appears that the print was matted before so there is some slight toning of the paper where it wasn't covered by the mat. Please see pictures.

Biography: Son of acclaimed Philadelphia artist and architect, John Dull, Christian Dull was born in Mortonville, Pennsylvania in 1902. Christian studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts* under Daniel Garber and Earl Horter. He also attended the National Academy of Design* in New York and the Philadelphia Museum School of Industrial Art*. Dull was an active member of many arts organizations including The American Society of Etchers, The Philadelphia Print Club, The North Shore Art Alliance, and the American Federation of Arts. The popular appeal of his work is evident from the many awards he received, including a prize from the Graphic Sketch Club of Philadelphia.
