"Aphrodite #1" – Original ACEO

Inspired by the goddess of love and beauty, Aphrodite. Specifically, this is a take on the Birth of Venus imagery made popular by Botticelli. This particular collage is of a vintage beauty queen splashing in the sea atop a picture of the American wild rose. Roses are Aphrodite's sacred flower. Our Venus is adorned with a more traditional rose sash and a golden rose brooch halo. Images were compiled from an American wildflower reference book, a book on historical beauty queens, and National Geographic ads from the late 60s.

Emo Cat Art (Alicia Renee) is a true naive artist. She is reclaiming the joy and value in creative expression. After years of depriving herself of her interest in creating visual art, she decided it was time to just go for it. As a true novice, her work experiments with many mediums, from ink to watercolor to acrylic to mixed media and collage. She is inspired by pop culture, media, camp, kitsch, fashion, drag, mythology, and psychology. Despite the seriousness of this about section, she's a big silly goofball just trying to figure It all out.
