Description
・春見 文勝 Kasumi Bunsyou
December 25, 1905 (Meiji 38) – October 17, 1998 (Heisei 10) was a Japanese Buddhist monk.
He served as the 29th Head Priest of the Myōshin-ji School of the Rinzai sect, the 642nd Abbot of Myōshin-ji, the Head Priest of Kaisei-ji, and the President of the All Japan Buddhist Association.
In 1984, he met with the Dalai Lama, who was in exile at the time, in India.
・春眠落日遅 “Spring sleep makes the sun set late” means that on a peaceful spring afternoon, the sun sets slowly, and before you know it, you’ve dozed off.
As a Zen saying, it likely refers to a state of freedom and openness free from worldly desires, teaching us to let go of attachments and preconceptions and live life as it is.
