The collection of embroidery patterns includes information about 11 authentic shirts from the collection of the Ethnolaboratory "Baba Yelka", collected by our team during eight years of expeditions to the villages of Kropyvnytskyi. Among them, in particular, traditional Ukrainian embroidered shirts with floral ornaments, made in red and black colors. Since the first edition of the album sold out in just two days (to our partners, interested communities, cultural and artistic figures, educators and other interested parties), we ordered a second edition.
The album includes patterns for:
Men's shirts from Holovanivsk, Lyubomyrka (kept in the family of Mykola Yasenenko, belonged to his great-grandfather), Razumivka (a shirt embroidered by Motrona Yatsenko for her husband Pavlo, who did not return from the war), Kropyvnytskyi (a shirt from a photo taken in Yelysavetgrad in the photo studio "Central Photography" by L.M. Shteyn between 1887 and 1912).
Women's shirts from Rozsohuvatka (embroidered by Olena Rybalkina, born in 1915, known as Baba Yelka), Vyshchy Vereshchak (embroidered by Todoska Yukhno, born in 1913), Krymok (embroidered by Maria Kondratenko, born in 1930), Gaivoron (exact origin not established), Lyubomyrka (from a photo from the family archive of Valentyna Vydutoya).
Girls' shirts from Oleksandrivka (embroidered by Galina Malysh, born in 1938), Deriivka (embroidered by Agafia Barlit, born in 1898).
The patterns were developed by graphic designer Darya Galko from Kyiv. The consultant was the craftswoman of the project "Free Bird Sparrow" Hanna Baranova. The layout was done by Natalia Andriyanova, editing by Olena Tsyutsyura. The author of the idea and texts was Svitlana Listyuk.
