Title: That's All Right Mama Condition: New Description: EDITORIAL REVIEWS REVIEW In 1954, Elvis Presley reconstructed Crudup's "That's All Right Mama" and scored his first Memphis hit thanks to local disc jockey Dewey Phillips. The original and twenty-one other songs recorded by the Delta-born singer/guitarist for RCA's Lester Melrose between 1941 and 1953 are competently performed but unremarkable. Crudup's preening voice lacks heft and evocative power, and his small groups don't have a leavening sense of swing. -- © Frank John Hadley 1993 -- From Grove Press Guide to Blues on CD Artist: Arthur 'Big Boy' Crudup Country/Region of Manufacture: USA EAN: 0078636104324 Format: CD Genre: Blues No Of Discs: 1 Record Label: RCA Legacy Release Date: 1992 Release Year: 1992
