This item was apparently used to create the electrical current needed to fire a blasting cap.  It is a hand-cranked unit that was made in Baltimore.  The box is wooden and is constructed using box joints; there is no lid for it.

     Since I do not have any blasting caps laying around the house, I cannot (and probably should not) test it.  I do not know the specifications of output.
