The Hobbit or There and Back Again, by J. R. R. Tolkien. London: George Allen & Unwin Ltd, 1979. Fourth edition, second impression. Publisher's original green cloth binding, with gilt lettering and decoration to spine. Map endpapers. In the unclipped (and unpriced) dust wrapper. Illustrated by the author.
A good copy, with binding square and firm (although the book does have the give of a well-read copy) and covers a little bowed. The spine tips are a tad bumped and there foxing to the closed text block. The pages are clean and uninscribed. In the dust wrapper that is ever-so-mildly sunned to spine, a tad scratched on the rear panel and slightly creased and nibbled to spine tips.
A lovely edition of the beloved story of a humble hobbit named Bilbo Baggins who is unexpectedly swept into an epic adventure (despite adventures being "nasty disturbing uncomfortable things [... that] make you late for dinner!”), joining a group of dwarves on a perilous journey to reclaim their lost kingdom from the fearsome dragon Smaug.
