Description:
Rare Oversized Borel Fils & Cie Trench Watch – 45mm – For Restoration

Up for sale is a genuine piece of horological history: an oversized trench watch from the renowned Swiss maker Borel Fils & Cie (later known as Ernest Borel), dating back to the WWI era (circa 1910s).
Key Features:
Impressive Size: The case measures 45mm without the crown, which is exceptionally rare for this period. Most trench watches were 32-34mm. This "oversize" model has a fantastic wrist presence.
High-Quality Movement: Genuine Swiss 15-jewel lever movement. It features gold chatons and the official Borel logo engraved under the balance wheel.
Authentic Dial: Beautiful original metal guilloche dial with a sunburst pattern. It shows a rich natural patina (tropical tan), giving it a true vintage character.
Blued Steel Hands: Original Breguet-style blued steel hands.
Case: Original nickel/chrome plated case with fixed wire lugs. Shows honest wear and brassing consistent with its 100+ year history.
Condition Report:
Status: Selling as "For Parts or Not Working".
Movement: The watch is currently not running. The hairspring looks flat and centered. It likely requires a full professional service (cleaning and oiling) to be brought back to life.
Cosmetics: The dial has heavy patina but no cracks. The case has some plating loss on the bezel and lugs. The crystal has surface scratches.
Note to Buyers: This is a perfect project for a collector or a watchmaker. Large trench watches from reputable brands like Borel are increasingly hard to find in this size.
Sold as-is for restoration or parts. Please study the photos carefully as they are part of the description.
