ANTIQUE Vinaigrette Perfumer CHINESE EXPORT Necklace, Carnelian Dangle & Beads

ANTIQUE VINAIGRETTE NECKLACE

Interesting and unusual antique vinaigrette necklace - fine woven chain is about 19" long, and perfumer tube is 7/8" wide - the complete pendant is about 2-3/4" long. Featuring gilded brass metal, necklace has a simple ring and roller locking closure. Beautiful basketweave pierced vinaigrette tube cage is accented with a polished Carnelian stone drop, and four tiny polished Carnelian stones mounted to the chain. The vinaigrette opens on each end via tiny hinged caps that click closed - I'm assuming a dot of scent, would be added to each end - that's my best guess as to function.

Condition is lovely with no missing stones, breaks, repairs or damage - the gilding/gold finish is dark from age, especially on the chain and around the lacy fitting on the teardrop stone - there is some patination to the metal within one cap end, and on the edge of one side - I can feel this with my finger and see it with a loop, but it does not detract or show when worn. I believe this is Chinese Export, purchased by my Grandmother on one of her trips overseas. A striking antique vinaigrette necklace - wonderful addition to any collection or display!
