This tool is specifically designed for removing ball joint boots from lower arms and tie rod ends. *Applicable boots are high-quality press-fit boots. The unique tip design lifts the press-fit portion of the boot with one action allowing for easy removal. The iron ring on the end of the boot is tough and difficult to cut and it also interferes with the grease inside the boot making removal extremely difficult. However the unique tip design of these boot pliers allows you to lift and remove the boot with one action. [Boot replacements are on the rise due to stricter vehicle inspection standards] Previously even if the boot was cracked or damaged it was acceptable as long as the grease was not leaking. However replacing the entire assembly requires significant parts costs and labor time but replacing only the boot can significantly reduce these costs.
