Morimura Bros. (Noritake) Divided Serving Dish with Handle

Size: 7.625 inches long by 7.625 inches wide by 1.5 inches deep

In 1876, the Morimura brothers  formed the trading and decorating company that eventually evolved into Noritake. This handpainted divided serving dish with a handle probably held celery and carrot sticks. It bears the red Hand Painted NIPPON backstamp with the M-in-Wreath design; in ABCs of Collecting Nippon Porcelain, Joan Van Patten attributes the M-in-Wreath red mark #47 to use in the 1911-1918 time period.
