Beautiful pair of bronzed spelter warrior statues featuring detailed medieval / classical armor and weapons. One figure carries a spear and shield decorated with a Gorgoneion (Medusa head) motif, while the second holds a battle axe and wears scale armor with a cloak.
These figures are beautifully sculpted with strong detail throughout the armor, drapery, and facial features. The bronzed finish has developed nice natural patina and wear over time that adds to their character and antique appearance.
Both figures retain their original thin leather-covered bases. In good overall condition for age. I think there is a slight bend in the spear shaft, but it’s hard to see/not visible from other angles, so I’m not sure if it’s normal age related wear or how it was when originally cast and placed. Also may be one small tip broken off of one of the decorative accents affixed to the helmet of the figure with shield, as it’s shorter/less smooth than the other side, though it is very hard to see/notice and these are so old and there is nothing to compare them to, I’m not really sure but I wanted to note and describe as throughly as I’m able to!
They display beautifully and are really cool pieces. The figure with shield measures 9.5” tall, 5” across and 3.5” deep, weighs 2.5 lbs. Figure with axe measures 9.25” tall, 4.25” across and 3.5” deep, weighs 2.5 lbs. 5 lbs together.
