Everett served in numerous prominent positions including Governor of Massachusetts, U.S. Senator, President of Harvard University, Minister to Great Britain, and U.S. Secretary of State. The reverse bears manuscript biographical notes summarizing Everett’s life and career, including his birth and death dates and listing his various public offices and achievements.
