Reed & Barton holloware double bon bon bowls with intricate
floral and scroll repoussé work along the rims. The maker's mark on underside of bowl are eagle (left) and R within a shield (center) and lion (right). The "Eagle-R-Lion" mark was used to designate Reed & Barton's high-quality sterling silver products. A small lamp insignia is below the X512A and would indicate a specific pattern or year code. The
X500 series (specifically X512) was a very popular mid-century collection that echoed the ornate, heavy aesthetic of the earlier Victorian era but was produced primarily in the 1940s and 50s. Reed & Barton (1824–2015) was a prominent American silversmith company located in Taunton, Mass. Quality is very good with a scattering of freckles or tiny tarnish specks on both bowls, see photos. Repousse is in excellent condition. Weight in grams is 214 grams.
