A gorgeous, fine quality, antique bone china porcelain cup and saucer by Royal Crown Derby, of quatrefoil fluted shape, the saucer with shaped rim, and the cup with double scrolled handle with moulded droplet terminals. Decorated with shaped underglaze mazarine blue edges, with finely printed detail, in iron red, of ornate floral displays, hanging garlands and shaped diaper patterned panels around the edges.
Hand painted decoration of baskets hold the floral displays, unusually in black enamel, and a pale mint green fills fan shaped devices around the edges and shaped panels sat below the flower baskets, then over printed with detailed red enamel patterns. Opulent gilt decoration in the form of foliate vines with tightly scrolled tendrils link the elements together, with further gilt edging to all the shaped panels, the weave on the baskets and finished with a sawtooth border to the rims. The cup has a further gilt frieze running around the inside of the rim and fine detailing to the handle.
Both pieces with matching factory marks and the date cipher for 1908. They are also painted with the pattern number 3788 and the saucer also has impressed factory marks.
The cup measures 6cm (2 3/8") high and 7.5cm (2 15/16") wide and the saucer is 13.6cm (5 3/8") wide.
In truly excellent condition with no damage or repair and no discernible handling wear.
