Provenance & History: This authentic Tibetan Kartika (Drigug) was acquired by my mother in Kathmandu, Nepal, while on a trip to Nepal and Northern India in February and March of 1981. During the Nepal phase of the trip she was in Kathmandu between February 22 and February 24. I have no purchase documents beyond the itinerary,
Technical Specifications & Construction:
Blade Material: Traditional crescent-shaped blade, magnet-tested (confirmed ferrous/steel/iron construction).
Handle/Finial: Ornate brass/bronze alloy Vajra (Dorje) handle, representing the "indestructible" nature of enlightenment.
Iconography: The blade is "vomited" from the mouth of a mythical Makara (sea monster) and features hand-etched depictions of the Ashtamangala (Eight Auspicious Symbols), including the Lotus, Golden Fish, and Conch Shell.
Reverse Detail: Features a celestial dragon etched into the metal on the reverse side.

Weight: ~13–14 oz (Substantial, professional ceremonial weight).
