974 Harley-Davidson XLCH Sportster 1000

Selling my 1974 Harley-Davidson XLCH “Ironhead” Sportster, a true kick-start 1000 cc bike with correct “4A” engine number for the 1974 XLCH model year. This is the hotter “CH” variant Harley built for performance, originally sold without electric start; a modern electric starter was professionally added by 947works in 2020 for easier living while keeping the vintage feel of the kick pedal.

The motor is a 4-stroke, 45° V‑twin overhead‑valve Ironhead with hemispherical-style heads and factory displacement just under 1000 cc (marketed as 1000 cc). Factory specs are roughly 9.0:1 compression, about 61 hp at 6200 rpm and around 52 ft‑lb of torque at 3800 rpm in XLCH tune, giving it that classic, torquey Sportster punch.

Highlights:

If you’re looking for a sorted, period-correct Ironhead with tasteful upgrades and plenty of character, this XLCH is ready to rip and enjoy.
