Incredible and extremely rare vintage couture ballgown, dating from the 1980s.

This striking
vintage scarlet ballgown captures the "Fairytale Princess" aesthetic popular in British high-fashion during the 1980s.
The design is defined by its dramatic off-the-shoulder neckline, framed by a lush trim of tonal ostrich-style feathers that add movement and texture to the shoulders. The corseted bodice features a classic sweetheart shape and is densely embellished with shimmering sequins, tapering into a sharp "V" waistline to elongate the torso. The skirt is the focal point: an ultra-voluminous, floor-length tulle masterpiece created from multiple layers of fine netting. This construction provides a light, cloud-like silhouette that maintains its dramatic width, finished with a delicate lettuce-edge hem for added ripple and flow. There is no label which suggests this was a bespoke piece.

This dress is in good vintage condition, with some markings on the inside, as expected with age, but no obvious damage on the outside of the dress, other than one small tear on the lining which is not noticeable. The dress is a size small, with an approximate 80cm waist and 105cm length.
