Leica IIIf Rangefinder Camera Ernst Leitz Wetzlar Summar 5cm f/2 AS-IS Repair Offered here is a vintage Leica IIIf rangefinder camera manufactured by Ernst Leitz Wetzlar, serial number 2288967, fitted with a Leitz Summar 5cm f/2 lens. This classic 35mm camera represents one of the most iconic designs in photographic history and was produced in Germany during the post-war Leica IIIf production era. The camera features Leica’s traditional screw mount system and is paired with the highly regarded Summar 50mm f/2 lens, known for its distinctive vintage rendering and character. The camera retains its original engraved top plate markings reading Leica D.R.P. Ernst Leitz Wetzlar. Included with the camera is a vintage leather carrying case and strap, which appear to be original to the camera and show significant age and patina consistent with long-term use. Leica IIIf cameras remain highly collectible and are often restored or serviced by collectors and camera technicians. This example is being offered as found and untested, making it suitable for restoration, parts, or display in a vintage camera collection. Item pictured is the item you will receive.
Condition Report : This camera is being sold AS-IS for parts or repair. The camera has not been tested and no attempt has been made to verify mechanical operation. The body shows noticeable cosmetic wear, oxidation, and surface spotting on the metal finish. The vulcanite body covering shows age and wear but remains mostly intact. The shutter and winding mechanisms have not been tested. The lens glass shows visible haze and possible internal dust consistent with age. The included leather case and strap show heavy wear, cracking, and deterioration from age and use. The rear leather door portion of the case is detached as shown in the photos. Overall this is a well-used vintage Leica that would benefit from servicing or restoration and is best considered a parts or repair example.
