🔗 OpenMoxie Connection Steps

The process requires setting up a local server platform to run the robot, which then uses your personal OpenAI account for conversational and speech services.

1. Acquire and Prepare OpenAI Credentials

Get an OpenAI Account: The user must have a valid account with OpenAI.

Obtain an API Key: The user must generate a paid-for OpenAI API key, as they will be responsible for the costs of the language model (like GPT) and speech-to-text (Whisper) usage.

2. Set up the Local Host Environment (OpenMoxie)

This is the most technical part, requiring a dedicated computer (PC, Mac, Linux, or Raspberry Pi) on the same network as the robot:

Install Docker: The user must download and install Docker (a platform that allows applications to run in isolated environments) on their chosen computer.

Download Configuration Files: The user needs to download the necessary configuration files (like the docker-compose.yml) from the OpenMoxie project repository (often found on GitHub).

Run Docker Commands: The user executes commands in their computer's terminal (e.g., docker-compose pull and docker-compose up -d) to download and start the OpenMoxie server and its components in the background.

3. Configure the OpenMoxie Web Interface

Access Setup Page: The user navigates to the OpenMoxie setup page in a web browser (typically by visiting a local address like http://localhost:8001/hive).

Enter API Key: On this setup page, the user must enter their OpenAI API Key to enable the conversational AI and speech-to-text features.

Summary - The user must:

Get a paid OpenAI API Key.

Set up the OpenMoxie software on a local computer using Docker.

Enter the API Key into the OpenMoxie configuration to power Moxie's speech and conversation capabilities.
