The Ki-5 Fighter was the final aircraft of the Imperial Japanese Army's fighter squadron. The Ki-5 Fighter was introduced in 1945 replacing the water-cooled engine of the Ki-3 Hien Fighter which had been plagued by production delays and malfunctions with the lightweight air-cooled Ha-112 engine. While its maximum speed was slightly slower than the Hien the Ha-112's high practicality and lighter weight of the aircraft significantly improved its flight performance and practicality including its ability to climb and turn. It fought on equal terms with American fighters such as the P-51 Mustang and Grumman F6F Hellcat and bravely defended the Japanese skies until the end of the war. This kit includes two marking sets: one equipped with a magnetic detector and one equipped with a radio detector. The instruction manual includes an explanation of the magnetic detector and radio detector equipped on the Tokai.
