***ALSO NOTE: Sometimes your original remote can fail to work your TV due to a problem with the TV itself. If the red light on your original remote lights up when you press buttons (with good batteries) then the problem is more likely in your TV and a new remote won't help you. If some buttons work and some don't on your original remote, that remote probably got wet, can maybe be taken apart and cleaned or needs replacement.
