This is a Japanese natural finishing whetstone from Kyoto.

Shirosuita is a highly regarded layer among Kyoto natural finishing stones and is known for producing a refined edge.

The stone shows a beautiful purple renge pattern and retains natural outer skin (kawa) on the side.

This stone is relatively soft and suitable for finishing tools such as chisels, planes, Japanese kitchen knives, carving tools, and sword blades.

Near unused condition.
