A delightful small English Georgian needlework sampler worked by Sophia Worledge in 1810.

Provenance:
Records indicate that Sophia was born in England in 1798 the daughter of Susan and William Worledge and that she lived in the small village of Creeting St Peter, Suffolk.

The sampler is predominantly worked in black threads with the alphabet in upper and lower case followed by a central verse which reads:

'Consider how few things are worthy of anger and thou wilt wonder that any but fools should be wroth'.

The sampler is a lot smaller than most samplers of this time measuring just 21.5cm x 20cm.

Condition:
The sampler is unframed and is in good antique condition with little fading to the threadwork. There are some very small holes around the peripheral edges and on the backing cloth as photographed. At some point the sampler has been folded then sewn onto a thin paper backing.

Please refer to the photographs which form part of the description.
