Harlequins were introduced in 1979 to combat the falling sales of fountain pens. This pen has a date code of UC for the second quarter of 1981. However, sales did not rocket, the production process was tricky and expensive so the Harlequin was withdrawn from production in 1984.This example is in near mint condition and has no scratches or dings and, as with all 45s, this Harlequin is a good and reliable writer that lays down a smooth and wet medium line. It would grace any collection or could be used as a daily writer.
