This is a very unique Mid Century Modern set of anthropomorphic figural stoneware salt and pepper shakers.  These decorative art pieces also serve as functional kitchen items...very cool!!

Reminiscent of the art pottery of Stan Bitters or Eva Zeisel, featuring a stylized, abstract figural design with a rough, stoneware texture.  Image searches indicated "stone face" shakers or "carved stone" shakers, but I was unable to find a similar set.  These shakers are unmarked/unsigned.  

The saltshaker features a stylized "S" on the face and pepper shaker features a stylized "P."  Each measures approximately 3 1/2 inches (3.5") tall and 3 inches (3") wide.   Both have cork stoppers.  

Both are in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks, repairs, or imperfections in the glaze.  It is important to note that if you intend to use these shakers, replacement corks will likely be required.   The corks on the bottom of the shakers are also vintage and appear to be brittle and dry.  Please review all photos carefully as they are the best representation of the condition of the shakers.    

This set was purchased from the extensive collection of mid-century pottery and art glass of the Kluck estate.  Elanor and Henry Kluck, a husband-and-wife design team, founded the prominent American textile company Elenhank Designs in 1948.  Renowned for their mid-century modern aesthetic, works by Elenhank Designs can be found in collections of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
