The historical background of this survival expert knife is closely related to the Russian military reforms and weapon development. In the mid-19th century, Russia combined the advantages of both French and Caucasian edged weapons, eventually forming a unique Russian Kashik military knife. This knife diversified during the time of Alexander II, with different military units and even the same unit having different knives, and many of the knives were modified to meet different needs. This diverse situation persisted until the time of Alexander III when a knife reform was carried out, unifying the army's edged weapons into the single 1881 Kashik style.
