This folk art pottery candleabra was hand made in the town of Quinua in the Ayacucho region of Peru. It can hold three taper candles. The shape/decoration consists of the head of a bull or perhaps a Ucumari bear (also called the Andean bear) at the bottom. Behind each ear is a human figure holding something that could be a musical instrument (or a club? or a baguette?). On top of the animal's head is a little church with a human figure emerging from it (perhaps a monk?). Above this is the candle-holder part, with three openings for the candles. Below each opening is a decorative rosette. In the back of the piece is a handle, so that it can be carried while lit.
The piece measures about 5 5/8" high x 6" wide x 4 1/2" front to back.
