Rare Antique W. J. Leas, Watchmaker & Jeweller, Presentation Gift Box, c1890.

This is a superb example of a tooled Burgandy leather, green velvet and green satin presentation box. This box is from a high-end jeweller and would have been made to present an expensive gift and also for the recipient to use it as a trinket box.

The rectangular box has chamfered corners, the hinged lid has a rich green velvet pin cushion embedded into the top. The lid is further embellished with a gilt tooled Greek key design to the edge. There are age related scuffs to the box and wear to the velvet. Once opened the lid and base have padded green satin, the lid has gilt text on the satin which reads:

The green satin that covers the hinge on the interior has fractured. The interior is, otherwise, in great condition.

The box measures approx. 11.5cm by 8.3cm by 6.4cm.
