K7 Coffee (Coffea sp.) is a traditional coffee cultivar of Coffea arabica originally selected in Kenya for its adaptability and stable yield. The variety was developed from French Mission coffee lines and became widely planted due to its tolerance to drought and moderate resistance to coffee leaf rust. K7 trees are moderately tall with good branching structure and consistent cherry production under suitable management. The cup profile is generally clean and balanced, featuring medium acidity and a smooth body. Flavor notes often include mild citrus, light fruit, and subtle sweetness depending on altitude and processing method. It performs well in mid-elevation growing areas compared to some higher-altitude specialty varieties. The cultivar is appreciated for its reliability in both smallholder and estate systems. Harvesting is typically selective, focusing on fully ripe red cherries to maintain cup quality. Due to its resilience and stable performance, K7 remains an important variety in several African coffee-producing regions.
