The sculpture is a scaled-down version of the famous sculpture "Mother's sorrow", which is located in the Square of Sorrow (a poignant memorial area at the top of Mamayev Kurgan in Volgograd, Russia, unveiled in 1967. The author of it is Evgeny Vuchetich.
