Slava watches are a Soviet brand that was produced at the Second Moscow Watch Factory, founded in 1924. The name Slava (meaning "Glory", as in "glory to labor", "glory to the Fatherland") appeared in the 1950s and became one of the most famous watch brands in the USSR.
These watches were intended for the civilian population, unlike other Soviet brands, such as "Polyot" or "Shturmanskie", which were produced for the military or astronauts. Slava was famous for its reliability, simple design and relatively affordable price. They were popular gifts for anniversaries, awards, and retirement.
The brand had many models - with automatic winding, calendar, in gold-plated or chrome-plated cases. They were often decorated with commemorative engravings. Some models of "Slava" were exported abroad, especially to the countries of the socialist camp.
Today, these watches are considered an element of vintage culture and are collected as part of the history of Soviet technology.
