Big Australian Sugar Apple (Annona squamosa) is a large fruited selection of Annona squamosa valued for its impressive fruit size and rich sweetness. The tree is small to medium in stature with an open canopy and slender branches typical of sugar apple varieties. Its fruits are round to slightly heart shaped with prominent segmented scales on the green outer skin. The creamy white flesh is soft, aromatic, and exceptionally sweet with a smooth, custard-like texture. When fully ripe, the pulp separates easily into segments, each surrounding a dark seed. This variety performs well in warm tropical to subtropical climates with distinct dry periods to encourage flowering. It prefers full sun exposure and well drained soils for optimal growth and fruit development. Fruiting can occur once or twice per year depending on climate conditions and cultivation practices. Due to its large fruit size, attractive appearance, and high sugar content, Big Australian Sugar Apple is favored for fresh consumption and specialty fruit markets.
