A beautifully fluid, loose swing style fur coat in deep inky black with a velvety, sheared finish. The surface has a smooth, almost brushed appearance with a soft sheen that catches the light subtly rather than dramatically. The cut is generous and easy, falling in a gentle A line from the shoulders to create lovely movement when worn. The collar is softly sculpted and can be turned up for warmth, while the sleeves are relaxed and slightly wide to complement the overall silhouette. It has that understated elegance that works just as well over eveningwear as it does layered casually. Best suited to around a modern UK 16 to 18 depending on desired fit. Generally good condition, with some wear/marks to the cuffs, pictured.

In terms of fur type, the dense underfur and even sheared surface suggest sheared beaver or possibly sheared nutria or muskrat. The pile appears uniform and plush rather than highly directional, which leans slightly toward beaver, but without interior inspection it remains a careful assessment rather than a guarantee. In all cases, these are durable, warm furs known for taking well to shearing and maintaining structure over time.

The loose swing cut, minimal seaming and absence of exaggerated shoulder padding point most convincingly to late 1980s through early 1990s production. Earlier mid century swing coats tended to have more defined tailoring through the shoulder and collar, while later pieces often show a cleaner, more fluid line as seen here.
