Offered is a beautiful 12-piece vintage Japanese Kutani Tokoname-style side-handle kyusu porcelain tea set, consisting of one teapot with lid and five matching lidded cups.  The set features a rich iron-red ground with intricate gold geometric borders and hand-painted flying cranes, hand fans, and clouds, all over a bright white porcelain body.

The kyusu has a classic side handle, built-in ball strainer, and matching lid; each cup has its own fitted lid decorated in the same pattern.  The underside of each cup is signed with a red seal mark in stylized script (unidentified by me).  The production year is unknown but is was purchased by a person who was living in Japan between 1949 - 1952.

The items' dimensions are:

This stunning Kutani tea set is in very good vintage condition and is free from chips, cracks or repairs. Light wear/rubbing to gold and enamel is noted and consistent with age and careful use.  The interior surfaces are clean with only minor signs of use.  Please see photos as they are a part of this description.

This is porcelain with overglaze enamels and gilt, not unglazed Tokoname redware teapots, making it a great crossover piece for both tea-ware and Kutani collectors.
