Vintage HP/Hewlett Packard 98786A Monochrome Computer Video Monitor 

For sale- a Vintage HP/Hewlett Packard 98786A Monochrome Computer Video Monitor as pictured.  Apparently the 98786A was packaged with an HP 9000/318M computer, also known as a 98563B.  The monitor has a “Video” BNC input, which I had assumed was just composite video.  Now I don’t think so.  Internet notes indicate the computer could be attached to an RGB monitor by just running a BNC cable to the “G” input on the monitor,

When powered up with no input you get nothing on the screen, and when I say nothing I mean nothing.  Nothing to see which might not be surprising but I also don’t feel the static electricity on the face of the CRT, typically noticeable when first powered up.  If you get up close you can hear maybe a bit of transformer hum, something, shows it is getting power.  Given the shipping costs involved I am selling this for parts or repair ONLY and NO returns will be accepted.

If this item requires a standard modular computer style AC cord, I no longer ship those automatically as I figure most people have a box full of them by now.  If you need one and request it I will be happy to include one as long as I don’t think it compromises the shipment.  If the piece ships without this request NO AC cord will be included and I will NOT ship one after the fact.
