Synopsis:
Superman #75 is the climactic issue of The Death of Superman story arc. This groundbreaking comic depicts the brutal final confrontation between Superman and the rampaging Doomsday in Metropolis. Presented in an innovative format of full-page splash panels, the issue captures the raw intensity of the battle as Superman sacrifices himself to stop the unstoppable monster. His death, in the arms of Lois Lane, sent shockwaves through the DC Universe and comic culture, becoming a major media event that drew mainstream attention to the industry. The creative team’s bold decision to temporarily kill off such an iconic character explored themes of heroism and loss, while revitalizing interest in superhero storytelling during a time of declining sales. The issue’s massive popularity contributed to a resurgence in comic book sales and cemented its place as one of the most influential publications of the 1990s.
