Material: 6061 Aluminium
Material Properties:
- 6061 aluminium plate is one of the most commonly used and versatile aluminium alloys. As a heat-treatable alloy, its strength can be significantly enhanced through thermal processing, making it an ideal material for manufacturing high-strength, lightweight components.
- It offers outstanding strength, excellent weldability, and superb machinability, readily meeting diverse complex manufacturing and assembly requirements. It demonstrates exceptional reliability and stability whether cutting, drilling, or welding.
Characteristics
- Through heat treatment, its strength is significantly enhanced to meet the demands of diverse structural applications.
- Compatible with various welding techniques, exhibiting outstanding performance post-welding.
- Easily machinable for turning, milling, planing and grinding, with excellent surface finish results.
- Maintains stable performance across diverse environments, exhibiting low susceptibility to rust formation.
Important Note:
Despite its robust properties, 6061 aluminium plate is not suitable for all applications:
- Compared to pure aluminium alloys such as 1060, 6061 exhibits lower ductility and is unsuitable for deep drawing or manufacturing processes requiring exceptional formability.
- High Purity Requirements: For applications demanding extremely high purity (e.g., conductor rails, food containers), 1060 aluminium plate is the superior choice.
Typical Applications
Widely employed in the following sectors:
- Structural components for trucks, vessels, and rail vehicles.
- Bicycle frames, fishing rods, and sporting equipment.
- Aircraft structural parts and rocket engine components.
- Building structures, bridge components, and general machinery equipment.
