Forty-seven lovely pieces of nicely sea worn and naturally weathered slate stone many with squares of Fool`s Gold (Iron Pyrites) in them which were beach combed in Dunbar, East Lothian on the East coast of Scotland so they were once in the North Sea.They weigh about 698 grams and the longest piece measures roughly 8.1 x 5.4 x 0.6 centimetres at it`s greatest dimensions whilst the shortest measures around 2.8 x 1.8 x 0.2 cm at it`s greatest dimensions. The two-pence piece and ruler are there to give you an idea of the size and the pictures are each approximately 30 x 22 cm (they show the slate alternative ways up on different coloured backgrounds and in different lights). There is a good variety of shapes and sizes in this packet.  These were roof slates in thier former lives (old roof slates have been dumped in middens in and near the shores etc over the years and some may have found there way into the sea as cliffs eroded and old slate tiles were often used as ballast on cargo vessels in centuries past) so there may be some marks and staining from that and from being in the sand and sea. Ideal for use in garden, décor, art and craft projects or simply as a decoration - especially if your going for a beach, nautical, seaside, found, reclaimed, recycled or natural theme.
