Antique Thai/Lao Bronze Buddha statue. A genuine antique devotional bronze Buddha, cast for religious use in a shrine or temple rather than decoration. Late 18th to early 19th c.

The figure displays the Bhumisparsha Mudra, the classic earth-touching gesture, symbolising the Buddha’s moment of enlightenment when he calls the earth to witness his victory over illusion.

Stylistic features include a tall flame finial, the ushnisha, elongated proportions, finely incised robe decoration, and a traditional square pedestal base with geometric carving. All consistent with Northern Thai (Lanna / Ayutthaya) or Lao (Lan Xang tradition) Buddhist sculpture.

The bronze has a naturally aged patina and shows signs of historical devotional use. The sealed base is typical of ritual votive images, which were often consecrated and placed in shrines or temples. 

Condition: Good antique condition, consistent with devotional use. Genuine aged patina and surface wear. No major breaks or repairs. Stable and solid casting. This is an authentic antique with hand-worked details throughout, not a modern reproduction.
