Offered for sale is a genuine antique German bisque baby doll, dating to the early 20th century (circa 1908–1918). The doll measures approximately 15” tall and is presented with a beautiful period-appropriate antique outfit, making her ready for display.

The doll features a bisque (porcelain) head with sleep eyes, painted lashes, delicately painted brows, and an open mouth with molded tongue and no teeth, all classic characteristics of German baby dolls from this era. Her expression is sweet and softly modeled.

The back of the neck is incised with mold number “122” only and otherwise unmarked. This is a mold number rather than a company name. Dolls marked only with mold numbers were commonly produced for export and department store sales. Based on facial modeling, painting style, and construction, this doll is attributed to the Heubach Köppelsdorf factory, though no maker’s mark is present (please rely on photos and your own judgment).

She has a composition baby body with jointed arms and legs. The wig appears to be mohair or an early replacement; age is unknown. She also has red “accent stroking “ or “nail highlights” on her toes. German doll manufacturers often added these hand painted lines to mimic the look of real toenails.

Please look at pictures carefully as there is a lot of crazing and some cracks on arms and legs. Limbs are also very loose. Also note the damage on eyelids and fingers and toes. The doll is being sold in her clothing in ‘ as found’ condition. To preserve the integrity and delicate fibers, I have chosen not to launder them. I prefer to leave the decision of cleaning or restoration to the buyer’s discretion. There are a few holes and stains that I have tried to show in pictures.
Bonnet is very thin and fragile.
