Oval old seed bead trinket box
Size: 2.5" long x 2" wide x .75" tall
Inside - the top is made of leather, and has a number printed
on it: 44022. The rim, which I believe is also leather, although in worn
condition, has a similar number on engraved on a brass thin plate: 44029. I thought initially they were the same numbers, but they are slightly different. (correction from video).
This brass plate is attached to the side rim, and the bottom of the oval box by
a small wire. The bottom of the trinket box, does not have the leather insert - which I am
sure it is supposed to. This has made the bottom fragile - because nothing is supporting it.
You can take the seed bead portion off of the rim as shown in the pics, although it is
attached by the single wire.

Condition & Notes: Seed Beading is in very good condition. The internal structure is in fragile condition. I would use this as a collectible display only, and not purchase it for a use purpose. If you like antique seed bead items, you may want this in your collection - but it would not be beneficial for a daily use item...just full disclosure.
Note: I was unable to find anything just like this - but what I did find - was an identical pattern, in seed bead, that looked the same age - only difference, is that is was round, and not oval. They called it a "fly box" - for fishing...probably rich fly fisher. Little pretty for fishing. Anyway - the age of that piece was 1850's - to late 1800's. Not saying this is that old - but the patterns were identical, down to the sides. I think it is at least antique - which I consider to be 100 years or more. Being sold "as is" in fragile display condition as noted, described, videod and pictured.
