Pink transferware design depicts the Bridge of Solara, near Rome, which originally had a keep (tower) on top of it. Spode's classic Tower pattern was introduced circa 1814. It was printed in a variety of colors during its almost 200-year production history, with blue and pink proving to be the most popular. Around 1923, a pink version was produced especially for the U.S. market. Production ceased completely in 2009, when the factory closed.
