A SMALL ( 4 3/4 inch tall to very top part of lid) HALF PINT translucent PURPLE colored antique Fruit Jar. What is unusual about this jar is the small size, a half pint, a hard to find rare small size. This is NOT a reproduction but an ORIGINAL ANTIQUE Mold Blown canning jar with a smooth lip, dating well OVER 100 YEARS OLD.

- Base of jar embossed: "SMALLEY, KIVLAN & ONTHANK, BOSTON, MASS."
- Condition: Jar is in excellent clean condition. It has minimal haze and age wear, NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc. Please see pictures to get overall idea of the jar's appearance/condition.
- Age: An ORIGINAL ANTIQUE mold-blown jar (ABM) with a smooth lip, ca. early 1900.

A super LITTLE CLEAN jar, and in the small half pint size, something that is not often seen. It is an early one too as many of these Double Safety jars are not old enough to turn purple. The color is most impressive, a vivid TRANSLUCENT PURPLE color. With few exceptions, only clear glass from before 1915 will turn purple when exposed to the sun. This is referred to as sun colored amethyst (SCA) glass. NOT ONLY does this lavender color make it a fine looking jar, it also verifies it as being a true antique, a nice COLORFUL one at that, check it out!
