This is a vintage handmade wooden acrobat folk art flip or acrobat toy.  Marked made in Japan, this toy features a young native boy or girl design.

The figure performs acrobatic flips when the two vertical wooden handles are squeezed together. These toys were often referred to as "flap jack" or "trapeze tricks" toys.

This toy is likely dates back to the 1940s, making it a unique piece of history showcasing traditional craftsmanship and cultural influences of the time period.  Perfect for a collector of vintage toys or folk art of this era, offering a glimpse into the artistry and playthings of the past.

This toy measures 7 inches (7") tall.

It is in very good vintage condition.  The wooden frame pieces have a bit of a "wobble" from decades of use.  It is evident that the frame has loosened a bit over time.  It is still functional and working!  Some wear is visible on the wooden frame of this piece.  Please review all photos as they are the best representation of this item's condition.  The acrobat character is in wonderful condition and is marked Japan.
