Curated historical artifacts from TheHiddenGallery Vault
Group of 3 Unopened Packs • 8 Needles per Pack
Offered here is a group of three (3) full, unopened vintage packs of RCA Victor Home Recording Needles. Each pack contains eight (8) original needles and measures approximately 3 inches tall. All three packs are included in this lot.
The front of each package is marked “Victor Home Recording Needles”, “Victor Division, RCA Victor Company”, and features the iconic Nipper the dog beneath a large “V” logo. The reverse explains that these needles were designed specifically for recording and playback on Victor Home Recording Records.
These needles represent an important innovation in audio history. During the 1930s, RCA Victor introduced pre-grooved vinyl recording systems that allowed consumers to record sound directly onto records at home using compatible Radiola-Electrola phonographs and other RCA Victor equipment with built-in microphones. These special needles were required for that process.
Home recording needles like these were used into the 1940s, until magnetic tape recording became the dominant consumer technology. As such, these packs are genuine artifacts from the earliest era of personal sound recording.
