Board / Playing Surface and the damaged outer box from The Grand National Steeplechase Game produced by Chad Valley.

There have been many versions of this game over the years and I think this box design is one of the earliest and may even be the very scarce 1901 original.

The game was a pretty simple dice based contest where you moved small metal horses around the track.

PLEASE NOTE No horses are included you only get the board and the box parts.

The board measures 54.5cm by 26.5cm open and 19cm by 27cm closed and as per the scans has a red reverse side.

The box is in poor condition with both halves flattened and evidence of some old tape repairs etc, one side flap of the lid is missing but otherwise if you wanted to some sort of repair could be made.

The board has some minor signs of age but is in overall generally very good condition as per the scans.
