Aramosa Coffee (Coffea sp.) is a rare interspecific coffee cultivar developed from a cross between Coffea arabica and Coffea racemosa, designed to combine cup quality with improved resilience. The plant shows compact to medium growth with shorter internodes, reflecting its racemosa genetic influence. Coffee cherries are small to medium in size and ripen relatively uniformly, supporting efficient harvesting. Beans are smaller than typical Arabica but remain dense and well-formed under good cultivation practices. One of Aramosa’s main advantages is its higher tolerance to heat and drought compared to standard Arabica varieties. The cultivar also demonstrates better field tolerance to certain pests and diseases, reducing production risk. Cup quality is clean and smooth, with mild sweetness and gentle acidity. Flavor notes tend to be subtle, less floral than Geisha, but refined and balanced. Aramosa performs well in warm tropical environments and marginal Arabica-growing zones. Its combination of adaptability and acceptable cup quality makes Aramosa attractive for climate-resilient and niche specialty coffee production.
